Privacy Policy

BATTC Learn · Bathudi Automotive Technical Training Centre · Effective 2 June 2026

This policy explains how the BATTC Learn application and platform (“BATTC Learn”, “we”) collect, use, and protect your personal information. We process personal information in accordance with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). BATTC Learn is provided to learners and staff of Bathudi Automotive Technical Training Centre (BATTC); accounts are issued by the training centre.

Information we collect

  • Account & identity: name, email address, role, and (where required for accredited training records) your South African ID number.
  • Training records: enrolments, attendance, assessment outcomes, and your Portfolio of Evidence (POE).
  • User content: photographs and documents you upload as workplace evidence.
  • Location: if you enable it, approximate or precise location is used to stamp workplace logbook entries. You can decline this.
  • Technical: a secure authentication token and a tamper-evident audit log of actions (for accreditation integrity). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking.

Why we use it

To deliver training, record attendance and assessment, manage your Portfolio of Evidence, support workplace (work-integrated-learning) sign-off, and meet QCTO/MerSETA accreditation and reporting obligations. The lawful basis is the performance of your training agreement and compliance with legal/accreditation obligations.

How it is shared

We do not sell your personal information. It is accessible to authorised BATTC staff (facilitators, assessors, moderators, administrators) on a role-restricted basis, and may be disclosed to accreditation bodies (e.g. QCTO, MerSETA) as required for your qualification. We use a hosting provider to operate the service under confidentiality obligations.

Storage & security

Data is hosted with South African data-residency as the production standard. We apply role-based access control, two-factor authentication for staff, encryption in transit, daily backups, and a tamper-evident (hash-chained) audit trail. Portfolio evidence is immutable once submitted.

Retention

We keep training and accreditation records for as long as required by QCTO/MerSETA rules and applicable law, after which they are deleted or anonymised.

Your rights (POPIA)

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and object to certain processing, subject to our accreditation record-keeping obligations. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
